From the time it is awarded, each Pacific Games has 7 years to make the games matter.

The most recent games in Port Moresby had 24 nations competing in 28 sports and has sparked a cascade of hosting opportunities including the under 17 FIFA Women's World Cup. When the games take place in Tonga in 2019, the nation's population will increase by 10% for 2 weeks.

Each event presents opportunities to provide a high quality platform for competition, run at a profit and improve the circumstances for people who live in the host country. The degree to which it does each is determined by partnerships and design.

GameChangers is working with the Pacific Games Council and others to develop strategies to manage the risk, increase the sustainable development outcomes and contribute to a world class sport event.
